About The Course
Islamic Psychology and Counselling Level 2 provides an exclusive opportunity for students of foundational knowledge to develop it into an advanced understanding of Psychology and Counselling from an Islamic perspective. Those who have completed AlBalagh Counselling and Psychology Level 1 are eligible to enrol for this course.
Students will strengthen both their theoretical and practical knowledge and the skills pertaining to it. It takes an advanced approach to Islamic counselling and the principles to underpin various forms of talking therapy rather than conventional psychological therapies. The course aims to support the development of counselling skills in the wider Muslim community to enable the adequate provision of cure to individuals suffering through psychological distress, as well as to provide a faith-based, holistic model for those who practise counselling as a profession. Students will learn and apply the philosophy and methodology of psychology from an Islamic perspective. The course presents a faith-based theoretical understanding of psychological well-being and support, and development of excellent counselling skills in the community to deal with complex patients. Furthermore, students will learn the practical ways of working with mentally distressed individuals and understanding where a specialist referral is required.
This is an unprecedented course, delivered by Muslim Psychologists, Psychotherapists and counsellors from diverse backgrounds, who specialise in Islamic psychological therapy.
The course will cover broad key concepts within Islamic Psychology, develop an advanced understanding of psychological approaches and the enhancement of counselling skills to support those with difficulties, within the Islamic framework.
The course is catered for anyone who has an interest in Islamic Psychology and supporting people in the community. Islamic Psychology and Counselling Level 2 will provide a progressive and broad overview of each area with relevant and challenging concepts.

Course Overview
The course aims to provide both a more advanced approach to Islamic Psychology and a multi-modal approach to a diverse variety of psychological difficulties within an Islamic framework. The course will also offer skills-based approach in developing the counselling skills of everyday people who support people in various roles in the community. This includes those involved in mentoring and offering pastoral support in mosques, schools, colleges, madrasas, hospitals and in community centers. The course provides both theory and case-based practical advice on some of the most common and challenging issues for Muslims with respect to psychological difficulties.
