About The Course

Al Balagh is offering Islamic Psychology and Counselling innovative online course in collaboration with IHSAAN (A dedicated Islamic Psychological Therapy Service). It is a comprehensive course on a faith-based theoretical understanding of Human Psychology from the perspective of Islam. Students will develop a fundamental understanding of multiple mental health difficulties and the psychological approach required to help people suffering through the same, within the Islamic framework. Furthermore, the course develops mentoring and counselling skills among students and enables them to provide better spiritual and psychological support for the well-being of people in diverse communities. The course will be taught by leading Muslim Clinical Psychologists, Psychotherapists and Counsellors from IHSAAN. IHSAAN is a certified clinic of the International Association of Islamic Psychology.

The Islamic Psychology and Counselling course has been designed by leading Muslim Psychological Therapists who have a keen understanding of the primary psychological challenges faced by our diverse Muslim Communities. The course emphasizes safeguarding children from negative media and fostering a love for learning, creativity, and self-expression within Islamic principles.

IT- Orientation

This IT Orientation explaines how you can learn essential information and discover, connect, navigate this portal and build a foundation for a successful journey ahead.

Session 1- Introduction to Islamic Counselling & Overview of Islamic Psychology

Islamic counseling integrates Islamic beliefs and principles into therapy to address emotional, psychological, and spiritual challenges while fostering well-being.

Session 2 - Islamic Psychology: The Islamic Model of the Self

Islamic psychology, rooted in Islamic philosophy, explores the human self, emphasizing the interconnectedness of the spiritual and psychological dimensions within the Islamic worldview.

Session 3 - Akhlaq the Basis for the Islamic Ethical Framework

Akhlaq serves as the foundation for the Islamic ethical framework, guiding Muslims in moral behavior and character development based on Quranic teachings and Prophetic examples.

Session 4 - Counselling & Listening Skills; Active Listening & Empathy

Counseling skills encompass active listening (attentive, non interruptive engagement) and empathy (understanding and sharing feelings), essential for effective therapeutic communication.

Session 5 - Anger Management

Anger management is a process of recognizing, understanding, and controlling one's anger to prevent harmful reactions and promote constructive responses.

Session 6 - Stress, Anxiety & Depression

Stress refers to the body's response to challenges, often causing tension. Anxiety involves excessive worry and fear. Depression is characterized by persistent sadness and loss of interest.

Session 7 - Jinn & Black Magic

Jinn are supernatural beings in Islamic belief, created from smokeless fire. Black magic refers to the use of harmful supernatural forces for malicious purposes. Both are significant aspects of Islamic culture and spirituality.

Session 8 - Tibb and Healthy Eating

Tibb is traditional Islamic medicine that emphasizes holistic well-being. Healthy eating in Islam involves balanced, nutritious, and halal (permissible) foods, promoting physical and spiritual health.

Session 9 - Marriage and Family Issues

Marriage and family issues involve challenges within families, like communication, conflict resolution, and parenting, affecting well-being and often requiring counseling.

Session 10 - Pregnancy, Miscarriage & Post Natal Depression

Pregnancy is the process of carrying a fetus, while miscarriage is the loss of a pregnancy. Postnatal depression is a mood disorder that some individuals experience after childbirth.

Session 11- Understanding Psychosis from an Islamic perspective

Understanding psychosis from an Islamic perspective involves exploring how Islamic beliefs and cultural context influence the perception, interpretation, and treatment of psychotic experiences. It integrates spiritual and psychological considerations.

Session 12 - Reflection on the Course and Putting Out New Skills into Practice

Reflecting on a course involves reviewing what you've learned and considering its practical application in real-life situations. It's about implementing newly acquired skills and knowledge effectively.
